Macy's thanksgiving

Macy's thanksgiving
One of the most magical events are coming up!The magic of Macy's!
Hey Guys! I know this is a fashion blog, but this is a special post. Since many of us like to watch this parade, I'd thought that you may like to get a "behind the scenes"

This parade started as a tradition in 1924. In the 1920's many employees at Macy's(NYC) were the first generation of immigrants in America. As immigrants, they were proud of their American heritage. They wanted to celebrate the same way they did back in Europe.
The parade was from 145th street Harlem to 34th street, in which Macy's was located. Macy's is a really big flagship store in NYC. However, they will change the route sometimes. Every parade is different!
Since this is a really big event, it requires lots of attention and work.Every float has something unique about it, and you are sure that you can see some of your favorite celebrities performing. Almost 3.5 million come to New York, to watch this 3 hour long parade. If you can't go, live broadcasts are available on TV.
This parade continued every year, but due to World War 2 it was suspended and then later resumed.
Some of the animals in the parade are borrowed from the Central Park Zoo. It's quite amazing to see all the excitement and all of the floats. This year some featured performers are: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Trace Adkins, Flo Rida, the Big Apple Circus, Colbie Caillat, Teresa Castillo, Rachel Crow, Thirza Defoe, the cast of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Isaak, Carly Rae Jepsen, Karmin, Christian Laettner, Sandra Lee, Mannheim Steamroller, Jennette McCurdy, Don McLean, Megan & Liz, Olivia Culpo, the cast of Sesame Street, Neon Trees, the cast of Power Rangers Megaforce, Cody Simpson, Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Kayla Ross and Jordyn Wieber, The Wanted, Geoffrey Zakarian, and The Kidz Bop Kids.[

Note: I got the performances information on wikipedia.com

Of course, The radio city Rockettes have to perform. Personally, I think that there performances are spectacular. When they dance, they are in unison:) Also, many high school bands perform, coming from various places all over the nation. In the end of the parade, Santa Claus comes in on his sleigh to officially marks the start of the Christmas season. It's an honor to participate in this event.

However, Life isn't all sugar and sweets. From the past, there have been many injuries from balloons crashing into areas. Some catch on fire, and when it's windy, balloons are required to stay lower.

Tune in on Thanksgiving at 9:ooam EST on NBC! I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
